All Six Kawartha Lacrosse Teams Bring Home Medals from 2025 Provincial Championships
July 28, 2025 — Kawartha Lacrosse is celebrating a historic season as all six of its representative teams earned medals at the 2025 provincial championships, showcasing the strength and depth of the club’s talent across all age groups.
The provincial tournaments, held in Oakville and Peterborough throughout July, saw Kawartha teams competing fiercely against top-tier opponents from across Ontario. Each of the six teams — from U9 through Junior Women’s Elite — delivered standout performances, culminating in a full sweep of the podium.
Among the highlights:
- Junior Women’s Elite Lacrosse (JEWL) - Bronze
- under 19 Gold 'C division'
- under 15 Bronze 'B division'
- under 13 Gold 'B division'
- under 11 Silver 'A division'
- under 9 Gold 'A division'
In addition to our club's team successes at the Provincial Championships, both our u11 Head Coach, Tara King and JEWL Coach, Jocelyne Lemay were awarded “Coach of the Year” by the OWFL for their respective divisions.
For more than 28 years, Kawartha Lacrosse has been providing opportunities for girls to play women’s field lacrosse. Over the years the association has significantly grown, in addition to its six teams competing in the Ontario Women's Field Lacrosse League (OWFL), it offers a local house league program and new this year, u9 Prep to Rep team and Women's Recreational League.
Kawartha Lacrosse is one of the smallest organizations in the OWFL but has performed exceptionally over the year, thanks to our outstanding volunteer coaches, managers, and trainers who are dedicated and committed to organizing a competitive and positive experience for all our athletes. Many players from the club have succeeded at the Provincial, National, International, Ontario University and NCAA levels and have gone on to represent Canada at both U19 and/or Senior World Championships.
The Kawartha Lacrosse Club is grateful for the financial support from its 2025 sponsors: Tooke Construction Services; Hobies Sports; Matthew Temple RBC Wealth Management, Dominion Securities; Dionne Kingdon Realtor with The Hammond Group; McKinley Mini Excavating; Lifestyle Home Products; Freshii; McWilliams Moving and Storage Ltd.; and Electric City Dental.
Quote from Fred Blowes, Founder and Director of Kawartha Lacrosse:
“I’m incredibly proud of all of the young athletes, the coaches and bench staff who represent Kawartha Lacrosse with honour and respect in the OWFL. Kawartha Lacrosse has had a long history of athletic success which is a testimony to our present and past coaches and of course our incredible players and their supportive parents.
